Xemplar launches new service, Industrial Trades Pros, to disrupt blue-collar hiring

Utah-based platform brings niche recruiting to industrial trades in markets across the US

SALT LAKE CITY — Amid a national narrative that employers cannot find candidates to fill highly skilled industrial positions, Xemplar Skilled Workforce Solutions today launches Industrial Trades Pros (ITP), a new service focused on recruiting top industrial trades professionals for best-in-class industrial employers.

Beyond the headline of America’s so-called “skilled labor shortage,” Xemplar addresses a less-covered trend: increasing frustration among top skilled trades professionals towards the outdated thinking of many industrial employers. In what should be a mass movement towards better workplaces and employment practices to attract quality talent, only certain companies have made the important shift from what Xemplar calls “human capital thinking” to “people thinking.”

In creating Industrial Trades Pros, Xemplar has designed a niche recruiting service that speaks directly to America’s highest skilled industrial trades professionals, providing a path for them to connect with best-in-class employers that fit their skills and career goals. Tradesmen and tradeswomen also benefit from a suite of coaching services and content aimed at adding value over the course of their careers. For businesses, Industrial Trades Pros offers employers the opportunity to access a network of elite, high-skilled tradespeople, find the valuable, long-term employees they need to succeed, and beat the “skilled labor shortage.”

Industrial Trades Pros builds on Xemplar’s tried and tested business model in Utah, a state with low unemployment and historically high labor demand. “Yesterday’s tools, such as temp and temp-to-hire staffing, are broken and antiquated for high-quality industrial companies,” says Xemplar CEO Adam Himoff. “These unsustainable strategies ultimately fail employers by scaring off the most qualified trades talent. In this market, we need to focus on attracting quality people with careers, lives and families — not bodies. Industrial America needs to hire and design work environments in ways that fit this reality.”

Positions placed through Industrial Trades Pros include some of the most essential jobs in American industry today:

  • Precision assemblers
  • CNC programmers
  • Set-up machinists
  • Quality control technicians
  • Diesel mechanics
  • Heavy-equipment mechanics and expert fabricators.

Industrial Trades Pros is expanding the Xemplar model into major metropolitan areas like Phoenix, Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland with significant success in early 2018. With today’s launch, the strategy expands even more broadly to employers around the country.
